The ‘Firefly’ tour is in full swing at present and I am just over halfway through it having just completed the Central West run. Last weekend was action packed with 3 packed shows and lots of press and radio.
There was a radio and press interview with Marlene from Radio Blue Mountains and the Blue Mts Gazette during the week. There was also a live to air with Mal Rock at 2MG Mudgee on the Friday arvo. Friday night was at Roths Wine Bar Mudgee which had sold out at 5.00pm and I was to be joined there by local Beatles fanatic Harry Gibbons onstage. Together we played 6 Beatles songs much to the delight of the packed house.
Saturday a quick busk outside Mudgee Booknest was followed by a quick reconvening and rehearsal of the infamous percussion group ‘Kings of Congo Congo’. The 3 short sets at Flavours of Mudgee have been legendary since 2011 and we basically form a second line New Orleans style to open the event in spectacular style. This year we were joined by ‘Carmen Miranda’ and her bubble machine which made it very psychedelic surrounded by big bubbles.
Sunday night was at the intimate surrounds of the fabulous ‘Bootlegger bar’ in Katoomba and again another packed house and the night was a great success and I even pulled out ‘Bike’ by Syd Barretts Pink Floyd. I got to meet the best promoter in the Blue Mts , Charity Mirow who got me the gig.
